Capital Campaign 2011
As you know, the Epsilon Mu Chapter House was built in the 1950s. Since the 1970's very little capital investment has been made in the structure. From 1973 until 2003 no capital campaigns were conducted. This trend was reversed in 2002. Initially, the investment was small. New couches in the living and TV room and a lawn sprinkler system. In 2003 a capital campaign was commenced. Approximately $135,000 was raised and invested in the Chapter House. We installed a sprinkler and integrated smoke detection system, remodeled the showers and bathroom upstairs, replaced the floors throughout the first floor, repaired extensive wood rot on the exterior, repainted the exterior trim, and installed a new roof.
Since 2003 the alumni of Epsilon Mu have continued to raise money and regularly reinvest that money in the Chapter House. We redesigned and replaced the front porch and entry doors, bought new kitchen appliances, purchased and installed new washers and dryers, and remodeled the woman’s bathroom downstairs. Also, through the generosity of Brother Carlos Langston, the TV room was stripped to the studs and replaced with beautiful library paneling on the walls and ceiling. The purpose of this campaign is to finish the job that was started in 2003 and make the Epsilon Mu Chapter House the crown jewel of fraternity row at the University of Tulsa.
